Introduction

Drug management and Inventory control of drugs is one of the most difficult function in a healthcare organization.

Orders

Drug are ordered by Category of function.

Drug and Drug administration is one of the most important “Certification” Standards.  Today it is “REQUIRED” to have Drug information when ordering and drug –allergy alerts; Drug Interaction routines are built into the ordering of the drug.  This data is generally provide by third party companies that compiles the data and distributes it to the Healthcare Organizations to include in their Health Information Database (HMIS). Since these third party companies are the ones that create the data table for inclusion into the HMIS system, this requires that the HMIS used by the Healthcare Organization, to a point, use a standardized database design.
