Introduction

The ability of the Laboratory and Imagining Departments to see ALL the clients medical data in real time insures that all relevant information is available for interpreting results. This includes, at least, the follow: age, gender, other laboratory results, nutritional status, disease and problem status.

Laboratory Appointment System

The Appointment system provides for the "fine tuning" of the scheduling of laboratory and diagnosis imaging studies. The appointment system allows for not only schedule of the examination but also the room, staff member, and materials required. Each test has a required "protocol" of staff and material requirements.

Laboratory Orders

The InHCc HMIS provides on-line references to all investigations and instructions for ordering and patient "readiness"

  • All Laboratory orders are created through Order Entry Modular.

  • Orders can be created to repeat or be based on alert conditions.

  • Orders can be created based on a single lab test or a panel of lab tests

  • Panels can be create easily.

Laboratory

  • InHCc has all laboratory procedures integrated into a single unit for better control and management of resources, analysis and reporting.

  • InHCc uses the coming International standard coding system of LOINC (Required under many certification programs)

Laboratory includes

  • Order

  • Built in instructions for each investigation/sample

  • Scheduling of Collection, Transportation, Storing, Processing, and reporting of Results

  • Resource and Equipment maintenance and standardizing

  • Tracking of results (acknowledgement that results have been viewed by the Case Management Team)

  • Emergency Result Reporting

  • LOINC coding

  • bar-coding of sampling

  • Resulting templates

  • Built in references for each investigation based on the individual's profile (age, gender, other laboratory results, nutritional status, disease status)

  • Reports that show the existing specimens in the laboratory and their processing status. Every Specimen is tracked.

  • Provides a Work Sheet with specimens priority, require, client, location, warnings, instructions

Imaging

InHCc has no separate module for Imaging. While the Clinics have imaging, it is this evaluator’s believe that it may be dangerous to depend on the existing doctors to read the results. One or more of the Lafon clinics have set up “telemedicine” centers to have the imaging sent back to Lafon 35. However again, unless a trained professional reads the results, the diagnosis may be in error. It is not important to “see” the image except the professional who is reading that image. All others should only have asses to the results.

Imaging results are made available immediate after reading.

The use of Resources are tracked to ensure efficient and effective use of both staff and materials.

While a PACS system is important, the databases of today can function as a depository at a lot lower cost and the data is always with the patient

Results

An effort has been made to "standardization" the results such that analysis and data mining is a regular part of the interpretation. This is an ongoing research project. Results are compared with, at least, the follow: age, gender, other laboratory results, nutritional status, disease and problem status.

Follow Up

The ability for all members of the "Case Management" team to see the client's results increases the ability to follow up with the client.
