Introduction

A Web Portal application is a Web application that is available to stakeholders of the Healthcare Organization's Web Portal. A Web portal can provide a range of services to stakeholders. Among the services that can be offered  are

  • Healthcare Professionals can access their patient's records from anywhere. Orders can be created and Results of investigations reviewed.
  • New developments in Healthcare
  • References and Resources
  • Information concerning the Healthcare Organizations (services, staff, health education, etc)
  • Ability for Patients to view and control their own medical records.
  • Appointments
  • Coordinating services between Healthcare Specialists
  • Training and Educational development
  • Patient Instructions (Location, Maps, Local Accommodations, Billing and Insurance, pre-Registrar requirements, Appointments)

e-Prescribing

The ability to electronically send a correct prescription directly to a pharmacy from the point of care is an interesting concept. However, it may in no way serve to improve or reduce the cost of client care.
