Most information systems have dealt with “Operational Processing” such as sales and finance…the “how to do what needs to be done” part of Managing an Organization, however in Healthcare, more importantly, we need to be more concern which “What needs to be done”. We need to focus on the “Subject” of the process, the Individual. Healthcare requires Intelligences.

Collecting data is the easy part. Collecting data has been performed for centuries in almost every place on earth. Developing lists of Indicators and forms seem to have been academics major occupation in Healthcare. Data needs to be integrated from a variety of sources. Data needs to be compared to determine if “What is being performed” is the best way. Many variables affect healthcare and all of these variables need to be analyzed. Most organizations collect a lot of data (well, at least a few of them do!) but it is neither on the right subject, nor in a form that can be used, nor do the members of the organization know how to use it to manage.
