Examples of Specific Benefits

Identification of Diabetes Cases

Diabetics is one of the most costly diseases there is (if not the most costly) and having the ability to identify these Clients early and trace them consistently is one of the most effective methods of cost control. Data analysis techniques can easily identify individuals that have Diabetes and those that have the potential of getting Diabetes.

  • Ability of the HIS system to track individuals, bu it can
  • Makes it easy to identify members of the family whom may be at high risk for also getting Diabetes.
  • The complete data history and treatments of each individual can provide a database with "what works and what does not work".
  • Data can easily be "Mined" to determine the best means of Marketing to these individuals.
  • Incentive plans can be developed that will reward Clients for positive health.
  • Protocols prescribed by Healthcare Professionals can be compared with Evidence Based Protocols to see if HCP's need to be better educated.
  • Treatments can be coordinated between the Eye, Nutrition, Weight Management, Blood testing, Exercise programs and Life style Management teams
  • Positively identifying Clients who may be non-complainant because of financial or other internal reasons.
  • Identification of "populations" that may be at risk (those areas that need the greatest resources directed to them)

Client Profiling

By Client Profiling (ethnic groups and subgroups) if one population is at a higher risk than other racial/ethnic groups, culturally relevant content such as risk factors, nutrition, education, screening and prevent care can be recommended.

Chronic Diseases

As the population ages, chronic diseases become more prevalent in the population. Chronic diseases are more complex and require long term management. Only with a good HIS system that provides history over time can chronic diseases be treated
