IntroductionIf there is no other benefit, Surveillance alone would justify the investment. How much money and lives would be saved today, if the CDC could have access in online access time to the data that flows in healthcare?
Public Health informatics is an area of increasing concern for authorities around the world. The need for comprehensive disease surveillance has never been greater, and there is the continuing requirement to track possible epidemics and pandemics. Health monitoring linked to disease rates and possible causative effects continues to be high on the public health agenda. Surveillance systems today gather too little information, gather it too late, and is too costly to operate. With a Centralized data base this information would be gathered automatically and in real time.
Surveillance All data is available at the detail level for every clinical contact. Data is transferred within a few hours to a central database where research and epidemiological studies may be carried out. There is no requirement that the local staff must be trained in epidemiological or environmental surveillance (where it is generally found to be ineffective). Data can be made available to all (to those with proper authorization) for “competitive” analysis. Decisions can be based on better analysis that is provided at a lower cost. The Public Health System depends on Healthcare Professionals from every institution to report diseases that are classified as “notifiable” or is made up of a combination of symptoms that are unusual. Unfortunately, if it is done at all, it is often incomplete and slow. By the time that a disease outbreak is recognized, it is too late. Automatic, transmission of unusual symptoms, notifiable diseases, or of any disease that has a higher incidence of occurring than normal can prevent a potential outbreak or threat. The InHCc Systems builds a database of normal statistical values for any of a combination of symptoms and/or diseases. If these norms are out-of-range, reporting will occur. For example, the normal for Respiratory Illnesses in Mexico is 27.8%. If the value in a certain area is outside this statistical range, the occurrences will be reported. Population Health
