Introduction

Today, there is a need for marketing specialists in International Health. Marketing the "product" can be just as important to the success of the project as the product design.

The visibility of all forms of promotion is an important part of analyzing results in a research project, yet very few projects employ professionals with the skills to do a proper analysis.

Examples of Uses

Referral System:
Promotion of the use of the referral system. It is generally less costly to the organization for the client to use the lowest level service possible. Promotion to motivate the client to use the referral system can emphasize the following:

  • Lower cost (to the client)
  • Neighbor friendly atmosphere
  • Personal Treatment
  • Shorter travel time
  • Shorter waiting time

Enrollment:
Many people in developing countries are afraid of the "system." There do not know how to access the system or behave once they are in the system. Enrollment can be used to teach these people the system and also to gather marketing (risk) data at the same time.

"Open house" can be used to create incentives for the population to learn the system.

"Lead In" products can be used to get the client in the front door.

Techniques
