Even politicians can/are better able to make choices when
all their options and their realized costs are known…
Making
decisions without sufficient data, turns into making decisions by force of
will, the strongest personally wins.
Funding agencies should reward the efficient operations
-> can only do that if they themselves are able to determine who is
efficient.
Any manager should be able to recognized
if his data looks correct…
Consensus
Getting a consensus on any given project is very
important for its successful implementation. However, in any organization, and
life, everyone cannot agree to everything. It is not expected or is it
desired. A good healthy discussion can also make a project better.
Yet at the same time, to make a project work, everyone
must be working towards the same goals. Discussions and disagreements may be
had behind "closed doors" but then when everyone leaves the room,
the team must be going the same direction.
 One division director in an organization was always in
disagreement with the organization's Director. Not only was he verbal about
his believes behind the doors, but immediately after the meetings, he would
post on the staff bulletin board his disagreements. The staff did not know
what to do. Therefore nothing was done.
This director was one of the worse type of individuals
that an organization can have. Not only does he not contribute to the
organization, but he destroys all that is attempted.
The Director should have used the very wise saying,
“Thou shalt
all cooperate, or thou shalt look for another job.”
